699 Bourke Street, Melbourne VIC
Location: 699 Bourke Street, Melbourne VIC
Architect: Grimshaw Architects
Product: Diamond Series 403/40
In the heart of Melbourne, a new and inspiring building rises up out of the iconic curves of the Southern Cross Station roofline. These office apartments synthesise with their surroundings, the home of leading companies such as AGL Energy.
Grimshaw Architects used Diamond Series DSG403/40 grating as a ceiling and wall panel system. Thousands of clear anodised vertical aluminium bars in the screen give a continuous perpetual illusion to all those that frequent the open plan hallways.
Like us, they strive to reduce their environmental impact, being committed to a 5-Star NABERS rating and targeting a 6-Star Green Star rating. Acculine is proud to have contributed to this cause using sustainable and innovative methods.
Internally clad in Acculine’s proprietary Diamond Series® grating, 699 Bourke St is an exemplary piece of artwork; showcasing a new way to hide a brick wall without reducing its protection.
Originally designed as an awning sunscreen and catwalk grating, this project illustrates the adaptability of our system and variety of applications. Consistent with our approach of emphasising the continuous line effect, the grating adds a sharp borderline to the grand walkway for the entire 100m, enabling the building to conceal electrical componentry without inhibiting function.
